03-11-1975 (City Council) Minutes e %i REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 11, 1975 The City Council met in regular session on March 11, 1975, at 7:00 PM. Present: Mayor Don Thomas, Aldermen R. C. Dodd, Ken Nall, Dwayne Boyd, William Martin and Ed Butler, City Manager Dennis Woodard. The minutes of previous meetings and expenditures for the month were approved on motion by Alderman Martin. Seconded by alderman Nall, all aye. Dr. T. M. Trimble was reappointed as City Health Officer of Wylie on motion by Alderman Dodd. Seconded by Alderman Butler, All Ayes. Information was presented by City Manager Woodard on the spraying of Collin County for fire ants. Cost of the program for Wylie is to be 15 per capita. Council tabled action on the item and requested more information. A request for a reduction in taxes made by Sam Self on a partially completed house was denied. Mr. Self failed to appear before the tax equalization board at the proper time as prescribed by law thus forfeiting any recourse. Motion to deny made by Alderman Boyd, second by Alderman Butler. All Ayes. Council reviewed proposed mutual boundary line with Town of St. Paul, for planning purposes. A copy of the agreement had been sent to St. Paul and no objection had been noted. Approval was given on motion by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman Dodd. All Ayes. Bob Roberts with General Telephone Co. met with the Council to request a decision be made on the telephone rate increase. Mayor Thomas stated. that no review of the testimony presented at the public hearing had taken place and no decision could be given. A special meeting to discuss the increase is to be held on March 18, Action tabled on motion of Alderman Dodd, seconded by Alderman Nail, all ayes. Bill Chapman requested permission to appear before the Council to present information concerning his proposed commercial building. Permission granted. A request was made by Mr. Chapman to allow a metal building in a commercial zone. After reviewing a drawing of the building, Alderman Butler moved to allow the construction if a one hour fire wall was built on the back. Second by Alderman Nall. All Ayes. The Council discussed the street repairs presently underway as well as repairs needed on additional streets. The City Manager was instructed to draft a letter to the railroad companies instructing them to repair the crossing within the city. There being no further business to conduct the Council adjourned.
