06-24-1975 (City Council) Minutes : Regular City Council Meeting June 24, 1975 "' The City Council for the City of Wylie met in regular session on June 24, 1975, at 7:00 PM in the City Hall. Present were Mayor Pro-Tem R. C. Dodd, Alderman Dwayne Boyd, William Martin, Stan Shively, Ken Nail and City Manager Dennis Woodard. Mayor Don Thomas was absent. Mayor Pro-tem Dodd called the meeting to order and asked that Mr. and Mrs. Foster Hanson be placed first on the agenda. Mr. Hanson requested that he be given permission to have water service outside the City Limits on west FM 544. City Manager Woodard explained that the 2 inch line in the area would not serve any more connections. Alderman Shively moved to approach North Texas Municipal Water District in an effort to have the District serve the homes in the area. Alderman Martin seconded the motion. All Ayes. A report by the City Manager is to be made at a later meeting. Jim Taylor, representing Texas Power and Light Company, met with the Council to answer questions concerning the rate increase. No citizen appeared to enter testimony. After questions from the Council, the request was tabled. The City Manager presented information on workmens compensation insurance for the City. The present insurance is issued through the Texas Municipal League. John Yeager with the Wylie Insurance Agency was asked to present a plan to compare costs and services. A street repair program was discussed with costs of repairs done by a contract crew and by the city crew. Council members approved repairs to be done by the City Crew in the following order. 1. East Brown 2. Butler and South First 3. South Jackson 4. South Birmingham 5. West Stone Approximate cost to be $4500, material and labor. Alderman Nall moved to adjourn at 10:00 PM, second by Alderman Martin, All Ayes. Mayor City Secretary
