07-08-1975 (City Council) Minutes REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 8, 1975 The Wylie City Council met in regular session on July 8, 1975 at 7:00 PM -7 in the City Hall. Those present were: Mayor Thomas; Aldermen Dodd, Nall, Boyd and Martin; City Manager Dennis Woodard, City Secretary Doris Wilson, Chief of Police Blanks and Danny Clark of the Fire Department. Alderman Stan Shively was absent. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas. First on the agenda was the approval of minutes of June Meetings and expenditures to be paid in July. Motion was made by Alderman William Martin and seconded by Alderman R. C. Dodd to approve. All Ayes. Jim Taylor, District Manager of Texas Power & Light Company, was present concerning the rate increase requested by Texas Power & Light. Motion was made by Alderman Dodd and seconded by Alderman Nall to approve Ordinance No. 75-7, setting a new rate schedule to become effective October 1, 1975. It was passed with all ayes. Next on the agenda was a review of the third quarter budget report. Motion by Alderman Nall and seconded by Alderman Dodd to approve report. All Ayes. Also discussed were street assessments and delinquent taxes on City Books. It was suggested to write letters to those owing taxes allowing them thirty days to pay before turning taxes over to the lawyer for collection. Report was given by City Manager Woodard on water service for Foster Hanson. North Texas Municipal Water District will offer to supply water to the Hanson house if he requests it. The City will continue to supply water to the houses that are presently being served. Motion was made by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman Boyd to approve this procedure. All Ayes. Discussion of Workmen' s Compensation Insurance was omitted due to absence of insurance representative. Motion was made by Alderman Nall and seconded by Alderman Boyd to approve minutes of Board of Equalization meeting of June 28, 1975, at 9:00 AM. Jerry Shaffer as Chairman, John Yeager, Wilma Dean and Dennis Woodard as secretary met and approved tax roll for 1975. As no one appeared, the meeting was adjourned at 11:10 AM. All Ayes by Council in Acceptance. Chief Blanks presented a letter requesting permission to have a public auction of confiscated items. Motion was made by Alderman Boyd and seconded by Alderman Dodd to grant permission. All Ayes. City Manager Woodard gave a report concerning letter from Railroad Company concerning repairs. Police report was presented by Chief Blanks. Danny Clark gave a report concerning Fire Department. Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM on motion by Alderman Nall and seconded by Alderman Martin.
