REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
September 9, 1975
The Wylie City Council met in regular session in the City Hall on Sept. 9,
1975, at 7:00 PM. Present were Mayor Don Thomas, Aldermen Kenneth Nall,
Stan Shively, Dwayne Boyd, and William Martin; City Manager Dennis Woodard,
City Secretary Doris Wilson, Danny Clark of the Fire Department. Alderman
R. C. Dodd was absent.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas. First on the agenda was
approval of August minutes and September expenditures. Minutes were read
by City Secretary Doris Wilson. Motion for approval of minutes and expend-
itures was made by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman Shively. All Ayes.
A public hearing was conducted concerning the Lone Star Gas Rate Increase.
Dale Williamson, District Manager of Lone Star Gas Company, was present to
answer questions. Motion was made by Alderman Shively and seconded by
Alderman Boyd to pass Ordinance No. 75-10 granting Lone Star Gas Company
an increase of twenty cents per thousand cubic feet becoming effective
thirty days from approval. All Ayes.
A public hearing was conducted on the 1975-76 proposed City Budget. Expla-
nation of the proposed budget was given by Mayor Thomas. After a lengthy
discussion on various items, motion was made by Alderman Martin and seconded
by Alderman Nall to approve Ordinance No. 75-9 Approving Budget for 1975-76
Consisting of General Fund-- $191, 151.00; Utilit :Fund $123, 114.00; General
Fund Debt Service--$18, 580.00; and Utility Fund Debt Service--$48,935.00;
and to approve Ordinance No. 75-8--Setting Tax Rate for 1975 at $1. 25 per
$100.00 valuation. Motion was carried by all Ayes. Ordinance concerning
Refuse Charge was tabled until next regular meeting.
Resolution was read by City Manager Woodard to name the new street
adjacent to the new high school "Pirate Drive". Motion was made by
Alderman Shively and seconded by Alderman Boyd to approve Resolution.
All Ayes.
Motion was made by Alderman Nall and seconded by Alderman Shively to enter
into agreement with the City of Garland for disposal of small animals for
ninety days. All Ayes.
Mrs. Barbara Le Cocq and Mrs. J. R. Story were approved as new members to
the Library Board on motion by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman
Boyd. All Ayes. Mrs. Le Cocq and Mrs. Story replace Mrs. Mary Townsend
and Kenneth Koon.
A report on the Fire Department was given by Danny Clark. City Manager
Woodard gave a report on various items. A trip is planned for Mayor Thomas
and City Manager Woodard to go to Amarillo office of Atchison, Topeka
and. Santa Fe Railway Company to request immediate repair on crossings in
Wylie.
Motion to adjourn at 8:05 PM was made by Alderman Shively and seconded
by Alderman Boyd. All Ayes.
