REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
oCTOBER 14, 1975
The Wylie City Council met in regular session on October 14, 1975, at
`-" 7:oo PM at City Hall. Present ire Mayor Don Thomas, Aldermen Kenneth
Nall, Stan Shively, and Dwayne Boyd; City manager Dennis Woodard and
City Secretary Doris Wilson. Absent were Aldermen R. C. Dodd and
William Martin.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas. First on the agenda
was the approval of September minutes and bills to be paid in October.
Motion for approval was made by Stan Shively and seconded by Dewayne
Boyd. All Ayes.
Secoad on the agenda was a review of the Health and Fire ORDINANCE.
Due to the absence of the Health Officer and the Fire Marshall, a
discussion of health and fire hazards thoughout the city took place.
These problems are to be investigated and further action to follow up.
Motion was made by Stan Shively and seconded by Dwayne Boyd to table the
proposed subdivision by Mel Delaney due to the fact Mr. Delaney did not
appear. All Ayes.
Ordinance No. 75-11 was passed on motion by Kenneth Nall and seconded
by Dwayne Boyd,w th vote of all Ayes. This ordinance sets rates for
refuse pick-up for $2. 75 a month for all residences, each unit of apartment
complexes, each trailer in mobile home parks, and each unit in duplexes.
Motion was made by Stan Shively and seconded by Dwayne Boyd to charge
Conkle Inn a set-rate of $9.00 per month. All Ayes.
Mrs. J. R. Story was appointed at last council meeting to serve on
Library Board. She was unable to serve. Mr. P. M. Akin and Mrs. Kathleen
Moore were appointed to the board on motion by Kenneth Nail and seconded
by Dwayne Boyd. All Ayes.
Motion was made by Dwayne Boyd and seconded by Stan Shively for Wylie to
Join the American Association of Small Cities, an organization for cities
with population under 30, 000. All Ayes.
Texas Good Roads/Transportation Association had requested Wylie' s
recommendations on roads that needed improvement. It was agreed to send
them the following recommendations; 1. extension of Loop 9; 2. widening,
straightening and four-laning FM 544 to Plano; 3. widening and four-laning
FM 544 to collin county line; 4. widening and four-laning Hwy. 78.
Last on the agenda was to review Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. It was
decided to have a joint work session with the Planning and Zoning Board
to consider contents of the Ordinance.
Motion by Stan Shively and seconded by Dwayne Boyd to adjourn at 8:15.
