March 23, 1976
The City Council met in regular session on March 23, 1976, at 7:00 PM in
the City Hall. Present: Mayor Don Thomas, Alderman Ken Nall, Stan
Shively, Dwayne Boyd, William Martin, R. C. Dodd and City Manager Dennis
Woodard.
The Council first considered a special use permit request by Mrs. Diane
Wigington to operate a retail plant shop out of her residence at 607 S.
BallArd. It was reported that a favorable recommendation had been
received from the Zoning Commission. Several area property owners present
expressed no objection. At the request of the Mayor, a motion was made
by Alderman Shively to postpone a decision for a maximum of two weeks.
Alderman Martin seconded and motion passed.
Mel Delaney met with the Council requesting a decision of the proposed
Estate Subdivision Ordinance. The Council stated the ordinance as
drafted would be passed when Delaney brought his property into the City
and presented a subdivision plat to the City for review.
Alderman Martin made a motion to adopt a resolution releasing city taxes
in the amount of $38. 29 on Lots 6-9, Block 30, Railroad. Addition. The
property has been obtained for use as a city park. Alderman Nall seconded
and the motion passed.
Discussion was resumed on the request .of Mrs. Wigington. Alderman Boyd
moved the request for a special use permit be
granted with a request that the zoning ordinance be reviewed as to
possible changes necessary to better control businesses in residential
areas. Alderman Nall seconded and motion passed.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9: 20 PM.
