05-11-1976 (City Council) Minutes Regular City Council Meeting
May 11, 1976
The City Council of Wylie met in regular session at City Hall on May 11,
1976, at 7:00 PM. Those attending the meeting were Mayor R. C. Dodd,
Aldermen William Martin, Kenneth Nall, Stan Shively, Dwayne Boyd, and
Pat Minihan; City Manager Dennis Woodard; City Secretary Doris Wilson,
Fire Chief Danny Clark; and City Attorney Ted Kent.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodd. First item on the agenda
was approval of April Minutes and expenditures for May. Motion for
approval was made by Alderman Shively with second by Alderman Martin. Vote
of all ayes.
Bob Roberts of General Telephone Company was present in regard to the
rate increase request made by General Telephone Company. Council presented
a list of questions to Mr. Roberts for answers to be presented at next
regular council meeting. Motion was made by Alderman Shively and second
by Alderman Martin to table request until next meeting. Vote of all ayes.
City Manager Woodard presented a request to Council to replace old faulty
controls to water tower with new controls to be located inside the Fire
Station with a monitering device to be used by Police Department Dispatchers
to determine level of water in water tower. Controls will be purchased
at a cost of $1, 593.00. Motion for approval was made by Alderman Boyd
with second by Alderman Nall. Passed by all ayes.
Resolution was passed on motion by Alderman Nall and second by Alderman
Boyd to authorize purchase of Plectron Communication System for Fire ,w
Department from Ken' s Communications of Wylie. Passed on vote of all
ayes. Cost of system is to be $5, 592.50.
Two bids were presented for Fire Station Addition. They were Delta
Steel Company for $8, 703.00 and Rino Steel Company for $9, 380.00.
Motion was made by Alderman Martin to table for further study on
financing. Second was made by Alderman Boyd. Passed unanimously.
Review of Planned Use of Revenue Sharing Funds for Entitlement Period
Seven, July 1976-December 1976 was given by City Manager Woodard. The
City will receive $14, 178.00. It will be used for payments on notes
for land located next to Police Station, Landfill Site, Fire Truck and
Street Paving. A Public Hearing will be conducted at next meeting.
Various departmental reports were given by City Manager Woodard. A
Resolution honoring former Mayor Don Thomas was read by Mayor Dodd and
signed by each Councilman.
