06-08-1976 (City Council) Minutes i REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING June 8, 1976 ..— The City Council of Wylie met in regular session on June 8, 1976, at 7:00 PM at City Hall. Present were Mayor R. C. Dodd; Aldermen William Martin, Dwayne Boyd and Stan Shively; City Manager Dennis Woodard, City Secretary Doris Wilson and City Attorney Ted Kent. Absent were Aldermen Kenneth Nall and Pat Minihan. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodd. Mr. C. Truett Smith, representing North Texas Municipal Water District, requested the City Council to pass a Resolution urging the earliest construction possible of Cooper Reservoir to be located in Delta County. Motion to pass the Resolution was made by Alderman Shively with second by Alderman Martin and second by Alderman Boyd. Vote of all ayes. Public Hearing was held on Revenue Sharing Funds Budget. Motion was made by Alderman Shively and second by Alderman Boyd to approve budget for July 1976-December 1976 of $14, 178.00. It will be used for payments on notes for land located next to Police Station, Landfill Site, Fire Truck and Street Paving. Passed by all ayes. Bids on utility pick-up truck to be used by Water Superintendent W. A. Allen were opened for consideration. There were two bids received. Andrews Ford Company in Rockwall for $3, 549.52 and. Fischer Ford Co. in McKinney for $3, 586.93. Alderman Shively moved to accept Andrews Ford bid with second by Alderman Martin. Vote of all ayes. Bob Roberts, representative of General Telephone Company, was present concerning rate increase request. Answers to part of the questions asked by Council at last meeting were presented, with the remainder to be presented later. Jerry Davis, a resident of North Ballard, presented a petition signed by residents of North Ballard to have sipped limit signs posted and enforeed. Council decided steps should be taken to do so. Street work priority was discussed. It was decided to start repair work on South Birmingham, West Stone, Mardi Gras and Memorial, West Kirby and North Jackson Street. Delinquent taxes were discussed. Motion was made by Alderman Martin and second by Alderman Boyd to send delinquent taxes to a lawyer for collection. Passed on vote of all ayes. Departmental reports were given by City Manager Dennis Woodard. The Tax Board of Equalization Meeting was set for July 10, 1976 from 8:00 Am to 1:00 PM. Appointed to sit on the Board were William Martin, Kenneth Nall and Pat Minihan. Council decided to request to be on the agenda of the County Commissioners Court in regards to the vacancy of Justice of the Peace in Precinct Seven.
