01-11-1977 (City Council) Minutes Regular City Council Meeting
January 11, 1977
The City Council of Wylie met in regular session at the Council Chambers
in City Hall on January 11, 1977 at 7:00 PM. Those present were Mayor "
William Martin, Aldermen Kenneth Nall, Stan Shively, Dwayne Boyd, Pat
Minihan and Don Thomas; City Attorney Ted Kent, City Secretary Doris Wilsor.
Chief of Police 0. C. Blanks, Fire chief Danny Clark and Public Works
Director W. A. Allen. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Martin.
Councilman Thomas moved that the December minutes and the January
expenditures be approved. Second was made by Councilman Nall. Passed
unamimously.
Motion was made by Councilman Minihan to approve the Revenue Sharing
Budget as follows: Three Public Works Radios 982.50
Police Patrol Car 5, 500.00
Fire Dept. Radio 451.00
Utility Contingency Fund 7, 244.50
Total 14, 178.00
Second was made by Councilman Thomas. Vote of all ayes.
A Public Hearing was held on annexation of twenty-one acres belonging
to Mel Delaney. There was no opposition. Annexation will be voted on
January 25, 1977.
Motion was made by Councilman Shively to call a Public Hearing for Texas
Power & Light Rate Increase Request for January 25, 1977 at 7:00 PM.
Second was made by Councilman Minihan. Vote of all ayes. ,^,�
K. C. Swayze requested that Wylie change their plumbing requirements to
use Schedule 40 PVC throughout the city on water and sewer lines.
The Council decided to consult our engineers on this.
Motion was made by Councilman Shively to appoint a new Zoning Board with
the stipulation that each person be approached and asked if he will
be willing to serve and attend meetings regularly, and also to appoint
Charles Elledge as chairman. Appointed were: Charles Elledge, Frank
McMillian, Don Hughes, John Weldon Akin, and R. P. Miller. Second was
made by Councilman Boyd. Vote of all ayes.
Departmental Reports were given by department heads.
PublicHearing was held on Roy Jones. Mr. Jones ' s attorney, Mark Turner
of Garland, ask the Council to appoint an impartial committee to
investigate the dismiItal of Mr. Jones. The Council will take the recom-
mendation under consideration.
The meeting was adjourned to executive session at 7:50 PM.
