02-23-1978 (City Council) Minutes 120 Special Council Meeting • February 23 , 1978 5 :00 P.M. 1 . Meeting was called to order by Mayor Martin at 5 :00 P. M. 2. All Alderman were present except Alderman Nall . Mayor William Martin City Manager Denton Miller, Acting City Secretary Barbara Ellis . City Attorney Ted Kent was also present . 3. Discussion on the repair of the backhoe. Denton Miller explained to- the Council the extent of the damage of the backhoe and the cost to repair the backhoe to a working order. After a lengthly discussion amoung the Councilmen a motion was made to fix the present backhoe not to exceed $5 ,000. 00. Motion made by Alderman Parker seconded by Alderman Ratcliff. Motion carried all in favor. 4. Extension of the City Hall Building Lease of $175 . 00. Denton Miller explained to the Council that he had talked to Richard Sewell about extending the City ' s lease on the building . Mr. Sewell told Denton that he would let the City keep the present lease until the new fiscal year ' s budget comes into effect. Then at this time the rent will go up to $250. 00 for a three year lease with a one year rent to be renegotiated at the end of three years . 5 . Discussion on the Police Cars that were bid . Denton Miller explained to the Council that the cars are not coming in the way they were bid . After a lengthly discussion amoung the Councilmen it was agreed on that the car that came in would not be accepted unless a discount of at least $500. 00 total in lieu of a 440 cu . in . engine or be equip- ed with a 440 cu . in engine. 6 . Discussion on weather or not to pay for the Fire Department Roof. After a full discussion it was decided to pay $400 . 00 to contractor and the balance due by the 15th of the next month. 7 . Mayor Martin brought to the Council attention about: a .historical book of Wylie. The book would cost about $25 . 00 each . It was decided to get the Chamber of Commerce involved in this book program in- stead of the City . Motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 6 : 1.5 P .M. / 'fir W lliam E .
