10-24-1978 (City Council) Minutes SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
October 24, 1978 -�

Mayor Akin called meeting to order. Invocation was given
by City Manager Miller. Those present were Mayor John Akin,
Mayor Pro-Tem Minihan, Councilwoman Shirley Kent , Councilmen
Richard Parker, Kenneth Swayze , Curtis Ratcliff, City
Attorney Ted Kent , Chief-of-Police Roy Randolph, Mrs . Ran-
dolph, City Secretary Sarah Connelly, City Manager Denton
Miller,
Appointment of Municipal Corporation Judge . Mr. Miller
reported that there had been three applicants for the job .
The Personnel Committee ' s Collin County choice turned down
the offer due to a possible conflict of interest . Their
Dallas County choice Mr. Jim Burns wanted a 2-month trial
period for both himself and the City. Mayor Pro-Tem
Minihan made motion to accept Mr. Burns i the temporary
arrangements . Councilman Parker secondea the motion. Motion
carried all in favor. Mr. Miller will try to have Mr. Burns
available at the November meeting.
Mayor Pro-Tem Minihan motioned for adjournment. Council-
woman Kent seconded. Motion carried all in favor.
Council adjourned into executive session.
