07-24-1979 (City Council) Minutes Special City Council Meeting July 24 , 1979 6 : 30 P.M. Those present were Mayor Akin, Mayor Pro-Tem Hall , Councilmen Hughes , Minihan, Martin, City Attorney Ted Kent , Chief Randolph, City Secretary Connelly, Mrs . Roy Randolph, Kathy Randolph, Richard Parker, Glen Housewright, James Potter, W.A. Allen, Dale Wolverton, Gene Foster, Bob Hogan, Jim Bob Hogan, Glen Morrow, Mickey Foster, and Brenda Miller. Councilman Rowland .Kreymer absent . Invocation was given by Councilman Minihan. Mr. William E . Martin was administered Oath of Office by Mayor Akin, and took seat at Council Table . Ordinance regulating the storage of flamable materials . After a discussion on type of materials that could be stored Mayor Pro-Tem Hall made motion to table until regular meeting . Council- man Hughes seconded, all in favor. "701" Comprehensive Planning Grant was presented to Council by Bob Hogan, City Engineer . Councilman Minihan made motion to apply for grant Mayor Pro-Tem Hall seconded. All in favor. Mayor Akin recognized the Electrical and Plumbing Board members . After Mayor Akin explained the need for the Board to make a rough draft of ordinances on- electrical and plumbing, the Board members went into a session to start on the details . City Attorney Kent said he would have a formal resolution drawn up adopting 1978 National Electric Code and the Uniform Plumbing Code . Councilman Minihan made motion to adopt Ordinance #79-16 regulating weed control within the City of Wylie . Mayor Pro-Tem Hall seconded. All in favor. Mayor Akin presented Mr. Kent with plaque in memory of Council- woman Kent. Mayor Akin then presented Mrs . Denton Miller with plaque honoring City Manager Denton Miller for his service to the City as Manager . Councilman Minihan brought before the Council that Mr. Don Whitt , Lowell Brewster, and Stuart Wallace be reappointed for 3 year tenure on Park and Recreation Board. With approval of Council , Mayor Akin reappointed these three gentlemen. Councilman Minihan made motion to adjourn into executive session at 7 : 20 . Councilman Hughes seconded.
