06-10-1980 (City Council) Minutes Regular Council Meeting
June 10, 1980
7:00 p.m.
Present were Mayor John Akin, Mayor Pro Tem Hail , Councilmen Hughes,
Kreymer, Eavenson and Martin, City Manager Lee Vickers, City Secre-
tary Sarah Connelly, Dennis Lynes, Ted Kent, Kenneth Swayze, Mike
Rawlings, John Housewright, and Gary Duncan of Media Systems.
Invocation was given by Councilman Martin.
Mayor Pro Tem Hall made motion to approve previous minutes and monthly
accounts payable. Councilman Kreymer seconded, all in favor.
Councilman Martin made motion of approval on final payment to Crook-
ham and Vessels on water lines. Mayor Pro Tem Hall seconded, all in
favor.
Councilman Martin made motion to adopt Ordinance #80-08 appointing
Board of Equalization and to engage Eugene "Bo" Daffin as consultant
on tax roll for 1980. Councilman Eavenson seconded, all in favor.
The following names were submitted for consideration to serve on
Board: Dwayne Boyd, J.M. (Doc) Butler, Curtis Ratcliff, and Ross
Miller.
Mayor Pro Tem Hall made motion appointing the following people to
Citizens Traffic Advisory Committee: Chief Royce Abbott (ex-officio) ;
Ms. Carol Tice, Chairman; Mr. Wally Watkins, school representative;
Mr. Bill Tarvin, Ms. Wanda Ellis and Ms. Ruby Christopher. Council-
man Eavenson seconded, all in favor.
Mayor Pro Tem Hall made motion to retain Mr. Gullahorn to represent
City of Wylie before Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission on Docket
#138949 (Zorba's Pizza & Etc. ) private club permit. Councilman
Eavenson seconded, all in favor.
Mr. Dennis Bramlett was not present.
Mr. Gary Duncan of Media Systems came before the Council to bring
them up to date on progress of Cablevision. The tower and earth
station are up as of 6-10-80. They are hopeful that Wylie .will be
ready for service by August 1, 1980.
Mr. Kenneth Swayze informed Council that he hoped to have Holiday
Terrace 111 finished with two weeks.
Fire Chief Housewright made his departmental report to Council .
Chief Abbott's report was given in written form.
Council adjourned at 8:15 p.m. .
