SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
OCTOBER 29, 1980
3:00 P.M.
Those in attendance were: Mayor Pro Tem Roy Hall , City Councilmen
Don Hughes, Roland Kreymer, and William Martin, City Manager Lee
Vickers and City Secretary Gail Wallace. Mayor Akin and Councilman
Harold Eavenson were absent.
The purpose of the special meeting was to seek Council approval and
authorization to purchase a rubber tired front-end loader. The price
of the loader to the City is $6,000 which would be paid out of the water
fund. Rowland Kreymer made a motion that the City purchase the loader,
Don Hughes seconded the motion, all in favor.
A brief discussion followed on the potential of growth for the City
of Wylie. Mr. Vickers advised that small , successful towns have an
Industrial Foundation. This Foundation secures property which can be
sold to companies seeking new industrial locations. Wylie needs such
a plan to encourage new industries to come into our area. It was de-
cided that Mr. Vickers should look into getting an Industrial Foundation
started in Wylie.
Mr. Vickers advised that Mr. J.T. Dunkin will be looking for new sites
for schools, hospital and for a new City Hall for the future.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
