12-08-1981 (City Council) Minutes CITY COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 8, 1981 • 7:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Akin, . A quorum was present and notice of the meeting had been posted for the time and manner re- quired by law. Those in attendance were Mayor John Akin, Mayor Pro Tem William Martin, Council members Harold Eavenson, Geline Dodd and Reta Allen, City Manager Lee Vickers, City Secretary Gail Wallace, Police Chief Royce Abbott, Assistant Fire Chief Mike Rawlings, Fire Marshal Lester Gayler, Volunteer Firemen Shorty Warren, James Roberts and Steve Knight. Also present was Bob Squires. Councilman Bill Berry was not present. Invocation was given by Mayor Akin. The minutes of the last meeting and the accounts payable were approved with motion made by Geline Dodd, seconded by William Martin, all in favor. The Burroughs L5000 billing machine was approved for purchase by the Council on motion made by William Martin, seconded by Reta Allen, all in favor. The total payoff amount is $1,723.43. Adoption of a Uniform Fire Code was approved on motion made by Geline Dodd, seconded by Harold Eavenson, all in favor. Two bids were received for remodeling the fire station doors. James Rogers of Wylie bid $4,500 and Cecil Duncan and Claro Trevino bid $3,274. The Duncan/Trevino bid includes installation of new doors in exchange for the old doors presently installed. The Duncan/Trevino bid was accepted on motion made by Reta Allen, seconded by Harold Eavenson, all in favor. The remodeling will begin immediately. The matter of photocopying was discussed. City Hall has begun to make an exhorbitant amount of copies for the public. Due to the cost of operating the machine and labor involved in making the copies, it was decided by Council that the following charges would be made for copying: $.25 for 82 x 11, $.35 for 82 x 14, and $.50 for 14 x 14 with no discount for quantity. The Council also discussed the need by the Police Department of having a copy machine in their offices. They can obtain a Xerox 550 for $1,195, on a free 15-day trial basis. The purchase of this machine was approved on motion made by William Martin, seconded by Reta Allen, all in favor. A bid from J.B. Battle Uniform Company was the only bid received for the purchase of police uniforms. The total cost of the required uniforms from J.B. Battle Uniform Co. will be $2,103.30. This price does not include new patches, which will cost an additional $300.00. The purchase of the uniforms and patches was approved on motion made by Harold Eavenson, seconded by William Martin, all in favor.
