SPECIAL CALL MEETING
MARCH 29, 1982
5:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Akin. A quorum was present
and notice of the meeting had been posted for the time and manner
required by law. Those in attendance were Mayor John W. Akin, Mayor
Pro Tem William Martin, Council members Harold Eavenson, Geline Dodd,
and Reta Allen. Councilman Berry was not present. Also present were
Gail Wallace, City Secretary, Police Chief Abbott and the following:
Bertha Howrey, Cecilia Wood, and Percy Simmons.
Invocation was given by Mayor Akin.
Radio Communications Improvement Project Grant. Prior application had
been made for a federal grant to purchase a 110 watt console base
station with channels 1 & 2 for the Police Department, which included
an 80 foot transmitter tower for the Fire Department. The console base
station was the only item approved. The total cost of the communications
equipment is $11,917; the City's portion through the grant-in-aid will
be $2,138. The council authorized purchase of the equipment by res-
olution.
Motion to accept the grant was made by Reta Allen, seconded
by Geline Dodd, all in favor.
High Speed TLETS Communication Equipment Grant. Prior application had
been made for a federal grant to purchase High Speed TLETS Communication
Equipment. A motion was made by Harold Eavenson, seconded by Reta Allen,
all in favor to accept the TLETS communication grant.
Meeting was adjourned with motion by Harold Eavenson, seconded by
Reta Allen, all in favor.
