04-15-1982 (City Council) Minutes CITY COUNCIL MEETING
SPECIAL CALL SESSION
APRIL 15, 1982 --►
7:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Akin. A quorum was present
and notice of the meeting had been posted for the time and manner
required by law. Those in attendance were Mayor John Akin, Mayor
Pro Tem William Martin, Council members Percy Simmons, Bill Berry,
Reta Allen, and Geline Dodd, City Manager Lee Vickers, City Secretary
Gail Wallace and Mayor-elect Robert Squires. Police Chief Abbott was
present along with a number of citizens.
Invocation was given by Mayor Akin.
The Mayor read the following Results of Ballot Recount Committee:
"TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: I , the undersigned,
the Chairman of the Ballot Recount Committee, said recount being held
in said City in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the 15th day of
April , 1982, for the purpose of determining the official winner of the
Mayor' s race, do hereby certify that at said recount there were 791
votes cast, and that said respective candidates each received the
following number of votes, to-wit: John Akin - 278 and Robert Squires -
279. Signed by A. L. Draper, Chairman, Ballot Recount Committee."
Mayor Akin gave the Oath of Office to Robert Squires as the new Mayor
for the City of Wylie. Mayor Squires took over the meeting. ..,.,�
Following a brief address to the members of the Council , the meeting
was adjourned on motion by Bill Berry, seconded by William Martin,
all in favor.
