08-17-1931 (City Council) Minutes Minutes of City Council Held August 17, 1931
Council met on above date will all present except Attorney W. F. Duncan, after Invocation by Mayor G.
P. Marnard the minutes of previous meeting was read and approved.The clerk advised that he had
written the Light Co and Telephone Co about the rates charged the customers as directed by the council.
The question was left open for next meeting.The marshal made a report on the fight at the Baseball
grounds August 15, between Jake Hicks and Ryan Strange.The question of the gaming cases now
pending was discussed and the mayor instructed the marshall to take the necessary steps to collect the
fines. Gas Rate Request
On motion and second a resolution was passed asking the Railroad commission to investigate our gas
Rates communications were read from Chicago Bridge and from works, LVOTT for Water Tank service
Co, Hall & Hall & Brown crummvance (?) Co. An ordinance was passed levying taxes for year 1931 as
follows 1.00 for Boved acch, .20 for Scurs acch, and .30 for Gun fund acch (copy of ordinance were
attatched).The resignation of G. H. Richards as marshall was read and was discussed by the council and
on motion and sec was accepted to take effect when his successor is appointed and quallified.The
secretary was instructed to write the cotton belt railroad asking that they place securr accommodation
in their section house.
The following Bills were allowed and ordered paid Albus (Albech?) David salary for Aug 4.00, com ou Tax
collection 1.44, G. H. Richards assessment of taxes 70.00, Ferrel Williams 7.50,TP & L Co 60.80, Wylie
Herald Printing cards 3.30, I. V. Bored oil for service 2.00, C. R. Busch gas for funds 2.86,J. R.Jones salary
60.00, last%July first%2 of August. No further business council adjourned.
