04-09-1984 (City Council) Minutes CALLED CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES APRIL 9, 1984 6:00 P. M. The Wylie City Council met in a called session on Monday, April 9, 1984 at 6':00 P. M. in the Council Chambers at City Hall . Mayor Squires presided. A quorum was present and notice of the meeting had been posted for the time and in the manner required by law. Those in attendance were Mayor Robert B. Squires, Mayor Pro Tem Akin, Councilmen Cleo Adams, William Martin, Percy Simmons, Don Hughes, City Manager Gus Pappas and City Secretary Carolyn Jones. Mayor Squires called the meeting to order and stated the purpose of the meeting was to canvass the election returns and declare the results of same. Mayor Squires read the results as follows: Candidate for Mayor: John Akin 233 votes Candidates for Council : Randy Gaston 70 votes Gail Wallace 133 votes Mickey Foster 98 votes Cal Westerhof 91 votes Percy Simmons 156 votes Council positions will be held by Percy Simmons and Gail Wallace. Mayor will be John Akin. Mayor Squires asked if there were questions about the returns. Motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Akin to sign the resolution canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the City Election. Seconded by Councilman Hughes. All in favor.
