11-15-1938 (City Council) Minutes November 15th 1938 On Nov. 15 = 1938 the city concil of the city of Wylie "Tex" meet in it's regular monthly„meeting .. All members being present except Mayor E. Housewright and concilman J. A. Benton The Mayor being out of the city, Mayor protempore J. A. Pitts presided over the meeting, a quorum was found to be present. Minutes of last regular meeting and call meeting was read and approved. A Motion was made and duly Seconded and unanimously voted to (one) $100000 bond on city of Wylie Water works offered by Brown-Crammer Co. of Dallas Tex at .40 cents on the $100 upon Motion made and Seconded the following resolutions were adapted in the order shown by the following recorded votes. G. N. Richards "yes" Ray. L. Pitts "yes" C. R. Smith "no" and each was declared carried. The resolutions so passed are as follows; A resolution authorizing the execution and delivery to Texas Power-Light Co, of a proposal for electric service in the future. Whereas, a large number of the citizens of the city of Wylie have petiatied the Mayor and city concil, in effect, to try to work out some plans with Texas Power-Light Co for future electric service, with a view of abandoning the plan to put in a Municicpal electric light plant, if satisfactory arrangements can be made with Texas Power Light Co, and Whereas, The city concil feels that some proposal should be made to Texas Power-Light Co of what the city and its citizens desire, and with the hope that some reasonable arrangement with Texas Power-Light Co, can be reached. Now Therefore Be it Resolved, by the city concil of the city of Wylie, that the Mayor or Mayor protempore is hereby authorized to execute and deliver to. November 15th= 1938 Texas Power-Light co, a written proposal for future electric service for water pumping and street lighting purposes, to be furnished by Texas Power-Light co, to the city, such proposal setting out the terms that would be satisfactory to the city of Wylie and a copy of which proposal is now on file with the city Secretary. There was a Motion & Second, the city pay .50 Cents each week, with the Business man donation to be used to clean main st from Santa Fa Depot north to ice house every Monday and the party who takes the job will dispose of the trash or rubbish with out cost to the city. The city reserves the right to cease paying the .50 cents any time they see fit. Motion Carried. Motion & Second all bills be allowed paid as read. Motion Carried.
