04-10-1940 (City Council) Minutes April 10th 1940
The city concil of the city of Wylie"Texas" met in Special call session in the town hall
with all members present.
The purpose of the meeting was to Swear in to office the newly elected officers of
the election April 2"a 1940 also to decide if the city was finally able and could continue
sponsoring the sewing room
The results of the election was read as folling E. Housewright Mayor 123 Votes
Jess Calloway clerk 134 Votes J. A. Pitts Alderman 99 Votes, Dennie Hillis Alderman 78
Votes J. W. Housewright alderman 40 Votes Frank Smith 22 Votes
J. H. Calloway city Marshall 66 Votes

Mayor Housewright declared the following officials duly elected. and made the
following appointments for the following year Water-Sewer Committee J. A. Benton- RR
Addington Street Committee J. A. Pitts-Dennie Hillis Finance Committee Dennie Hillis
and W. D. Click, J. A. Pitts Mayor Pro-Temporee. Treasurer-Glen Daniel Fire Marshall
C. R. Burch Swming pool committee, J. A. Pitts-W.D. Click Water Supt. H. A. Long,
City health officer P. F. Brooks Motion& Second Mayor's appointments be approved
Motion Carried
After an hours discussion in regard to the sewing room and the financial condition of the
city It was decided to reduce the employes 50% and run it until May 15 — 1940
There was a Motion & second the city notify Gus W. Thomason the city has
decided to have the number of employees at the sewing room reduced 50%to take effect
not later than the 15 of April and will finance it until May 15 — 1940 and if at this time
the city can and has the finance they would continue the sewing room another month.
