CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
JUNE 23 , 1984
9 : 00 A.M.
The Wylie City Council met in a special called session on
Saturday, June 23 , 1984 at 9 : 00 p .m. in the Council Chambers
at City Hall . Mayor Akin presided. A quorum was present and
notice of the meeting had been posted for the time and in the
manner required by law. Those in attendance were Mayor John Akin,
Mayor Pro Tem Don Hughes , Councilmembers Gail Wallace , Cleo Adams ,
William Martin and Percy Simmons , City Manager Gus Pappas , City
Secretary Carolyn Jones , C.E. O. & P.W.D. Roy Faires , Librarian
Cindy Petersons , Pat Minihan, Truett and Reta Smith and Scott
from the Wylie News .
Mayor Akin called the meeting to order.
Truett and Reta Smith Presentation: Truett and Reta Smith offered
the City of Wylie to build a complete new library. Mayor Akin
thanked them on behalf of the City for the new library.
Motion was made by Councilmember Martin to name the new library
the Truett and Reta Smith Library, seconded by Councilmember
Adams ; all in favor. Meeting adjourned.
