04-15-1941 (City Council) Minutes April= 15= 1941 The city concil of the city of"Wylie Texas" met in regular session in the city hall, with all members present Except D. W. Click and J. A. Benton alderman. The meeting was called to order, and the Mayor, ask"C. M. Gallagher notary public" who was present to "Swear In" the new Alderman, the election sheet was read as following. R. R. Addington 58 Votes J. P. McAfee 24-Votes C. G. Housewright 62 Votes J C. Jennings 24-Votes. C. R. Burch 47-Votes R. J. Hall 62-Votes. After having heard the ballet sheet read, Mayor Housewright declared R. R. Addington— C. G. Housewright. R. J. Hall duely elected, and C. M. Gallagher gave then the Oath of Office. Mayor Housewright made the following appointments for the coming year Glen Daniel Treasurer H. A. Long water Supt. C. R. Burch. Fire Marshall, Claude Housewright and R. R. Addington. Water and Sewer Committee, J. A. Pitts and R. J. Hall, Street Committee D. Hillis and C. G. Housewright, Finance Comm: Dr P. F. Brooks Health Officer. There was a Motion & Second the Mayor appointments be approved. Motion Carried. The minutes of last regular meeting was read and approved. D. Hillis, and R. J. Hall, was appointed as a committee by the Mayor to contract the hauling off- of the trash and rubbish from the city in our clean up, and to. co-operate with the Garden Club In every way. to beautify the town. April 15th 1941 There was a Motion & Second, the Mayor appoint a committee, to co'operate with the School board and Garden Club committee's to look after the lot of T. F. Birmingham in the Wylie cemetery, also to decorate the Grave on this lot of the Son of T. F. Birmingham, and to set out some flowers and shrubs on this lot. J. A. Pitts was put on this committee Motion Carried There was a Motion & Second, the city appoint H. A. Long as supervisor over R. A. Cross "an Employee of the city" "Long" will instruct"Crass" as to the work that is to be done "at any and all times." and R. A. Cross is to work under H. A. Long's instructions, and any street work on repairs that needs to be done will be reported to H. A. Long, water Supt Motion Carried. Motion & Second, the city accept and cooperate with the Ladies of the Garden Club. In offering a prize for the cleanest and neatest property in town Motion & Second all bills be allowed paid as read.
