02-17-1942 (City Council) MinutesFeby. 17th 1942 The city of Wylie's Council met in its regular session on the above date, Mayor E. Housewright presided Members present: Dennis Hillis, R. J. Hall and R. R. Addington. members absent J. A. Pitts, C. G. Housewright Minutes of the last regular meeting was read and approved. The finance court. reported they had contact a Mr. Nelson whos firm formerly audited the wylie books who was unable to get to the job just now, and Mayor Housewright also reported having had a letter from Mr. Nelson about doing the work a little later. Mayor Housewright also discussed with the members present the advisability of considering further; a contract formerly presented to the City Council by the Gulf Colo. & St. Ry. Co.covering a lease of Ry's Co. property adjoining the City's Well property. The council agreed to give the contract some further consideration The advisability of discontinuing the night -watch job on the City's water works plant was discussed and it was agreed that action on same be deferred to next meeting A letter from The Northern Trust Co. Chicago relative to supplying said company with statement of condition of the City's accts. by the city Treas. was refered to the Mayor for reply. Mayor E. Housewright, with full consent of the city council, ordered an election, to be held on the first Tuesday in April 1942, the same being the 7th day of April 1942, for the purpose of electing, a mayor, a city marshal, a city clerk and (2) two city councilmen and Hugh Sketton was appointed to hold such election with authority to secure clerks to help him.
