03-16-1942 (City Council) Minutes Mch. 16th 1942. The City Council met in regular session at the City Hall in Wylie Texas on March 16th 1942. all members were present except R. J. Hall. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Housewright. The minutes of the last regular meeting was read and approved. Unfinished business consisting a proposal lease from the Gulf Colo. & Santa Fa Ry. Co. for property adjacent to the Wylie deepwell property was discussed and on motion of C. G. Housewright and second by D. Hillis the lease contract was refused. Under new business the matter of night watchman for the deepwell property was discussed and on motion J. A. Pitts and seconded by C. G. Housewright. The council noted to discontinue the job and Mr. R. A. Cross the present watchman was offered his old job, assistant to H. A. Long, which he accepted at $5500 per month. beginning Mch 15th 1942 Mayor E. Housewright reported to the council that Hugh Sketton formarly appointed to hold city election was not qualified to hold same and he appointed C. R. Hillis to hold the election. A motion by C. G. Housewright and seconded by R. R. Addington carried that the council add $50 per month to the salary of night watchman McCreary. sra=1=a=py in consideration of his looking after the City's well properties making his salary $1500 per month instead of$1000 beginning Mch 15-42 The city council by unanimous vote instructed city marshal Callaway to repair hole in fence around swimming pool and stop children playing in the pool.
