04-15-1942 (City Council) Minutes April 15th 1942
The City Council of the City of Wylie Texas met in regular session on the April 15th
1942. All members present Mayor E. Housewright, presiding called the meeting to order.
The minuts of the last regular meeting were read and approved.
There being no unfinished business before the board Mayor Housewright read the
following report of the election held on the 7th of April 1942
Results of the voting at said election follows, 46 votes cast
For J.A. Pitts candidate for Mayor, no op 45 Votes
For J.H. Callaway candidate for City Marshal 42 Votes
For C.M. Gallagher candidate for City Clerk 46 Votes
For Chas Smith candidate for City Alderman 14 Votes
For Dennis Hillis candidate for City Alderman 37 Votes
For E Housewright candidate for City Alderman 32 Votes
For C.E. Boyd candidate for City Alderman 7 Votes
J.A. Pitts, J H Callaway, and C M Gallagher having no opponents and Dennis Hillis &E
Housewright having received the highest, number of votes in the race for Alderman, 2 to
be elected, were, declaimed to be elected to the respective offices by the Mayor.
The newly elected mayor, J.A. Pitts, thereupon assumed his duties as mayor of the town
of Wylie &took charge of the meeting.
Mayor Pitts made the following committee appointments which met with the approval of
the council members.

Motion by E Housewright& second by C G Housewright carried instructing the Mayor
& Clerk to arrange for proper official bonds.
Asked about the Citys funds the treas, Glen Daniel reported Balance in S fund $1849M
Balance in general fund $4094.53 as of April 15th 1942.
May The advisability of buying in same bonds was discussed—and- with consent of the
council, Mayor Pitts instructed the finance comt. & City Clerk to see if they could find
some bonds for sale.
A cleaner City was discussed and Mayor Pitts appointed. Dennis Hillis and C.G.
Housewright a special comt. in charge of that work.
A motion by C.G. Housewright& secd by R. J Hall carried unanimously, to buy
small truck for general needs of the City but for the particular use of&to be in charge&
care of the City water supervisor
Mayor Pitts appointed F.J. Hall and Glen Daniel a special comt. to buy a truck for
the City at approximately $30000
Water sup, H.A. Long reported that the school board had tied the school's
lunchroom prepuces for waste water only, on to schools sewerage system the matter was
discussed by the Council &Mayor and the discussion was, not to make any extra change
at present
The following bills were read and on motion of D. Hillis second by C.G.
Housewright, carried, were ordered paid
