08-15-1942 (City Council) Minutes August 15th 1942 The City of Concil of the City of Wylie met in a regular session on August 15th 1942 A.D. with Mayor Pitts presiding. Meeting was called to order and minutes of the last regular meeting were read by the secretary. On a motion by E. Housewright and second by Claude Housewright the minutes were approved and accepted as read. On a motion made by E. Housewright and a second by Claude Housewright it was agreed that their should be held an election to elect a man to take the place of Aldeman Denny Hillis, who has moved from the City. Charlie Smith was appointed election judge and the date of August 29, 1942 A.D. set for the election by Mayor Pitts. Organization of Boy Scounts was discussed on a motion by E. Housewright and a second by C. Housewright, it was agreed that the Council should sponsor the group, and that the City Hall should be offered, as a meeting place for the Scouts. James, Pearce, A.C. Moore Glen Daniel, and Frank McMillian were appointed as advisors for the movement. Glen Daniel asked that the municipal swimming pool be opened one week, free to the Scout members, to motivate interest and begin the activity. No final decision was reached in the matter Water bill at the school was discussed. Since the water was being used for the good of so many, the school board asked that they be allowed to pay $1300 and have the balance of$3400 donated to the Canning fund. Final decision was left to the discretion of the Water Committee. The City Treasurer reported $548.04 in the Interest and sinking fund and 4429.28 in the general fund. August 15th The following accounts were read and on a motion by E. Housewright and a second by Claude Housewright were approved and ordered paid.
