09-15-1942 (City Council) Minutes September 15th 1942
The City Council of the City of Wylie met on the 15th day of September 1942 with all
members present except C.G. Housewright and R.J. Hall. Mayor Pitts presiding called the
meeting to order
Minutes of the last meeting were read by the Clerk and on a motion by E
Housewright and a second by R.R. Addington were approved as read.
There being no unfinished business before the Council the Mayor read the
following report on the election held on August 29, 1942
Results of said election as follows:
Total number of votes cast 32
For D.B. Willis 25
For J.P. McAfee 7
Mr. D.B. Willis, having received the greatest number of votes, in the race for
Alderman, was declared elected by the Mayor, and took the oath of office.
Motion made by E Housewright and a second by R R Addington that a vote be
taken on whether or not the City should donate gravel for street in front of N F Duncan
home. It was voted no.
Mrs. L.D. Russell and Mrs. Jick Housewright attended the meeting on behalf of
the Red Cross. On being recognized by the Mayor, they asked that the Council give
financial aid to the organization. On a motion by E Housewright and a second by D.B.
Willis it was decided to give the financial aid and give the said women authority to
purchase for the Red Cross.
The treasurer reported $683E7 in the Int. & Sinking fund and 4640 in the general
fund
The following bills were read and on a motion by E Housewright& second by
R.R. Addington were ordered paid.
