Budget Worksession
July 28, 1997
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Jim Swartz called the City Council Meeting to order, July 28, 1997 at 7:00
p.m. with the following Councilmembers present: Wanda Sparks, Cleo Adams, Reta
Allen, John Mondy and J. C. Worley. Joel Scott was absent. Staff members present
were: Mike Collins, City Manager, Susan Shuler, City Secretary, and Pam Gidney,
Finance Dept.
WORKSESSION
Collins stated that to fund last year's budget (FY97) with no employee increases
except two police officers from the COP Grant it would require eliminating all capital items.
He also stated that$15,000 had been eliminated from the travel and training budgets and
if there was no merit pay increases for exempt employees, then there would be a balanced
budget. Collins said that 1 penny tax increase would generate $42,000. He also said that
a Park worker could be brought in at mid-year with a budget amendment.
Worley asked if the City could go out for bids for modular building proposed for the Fire
Department.
ADJOURNMENT
As there was no further business to ¢ome before Council for consideration, the
meeting was adjourned. /
