Council Present:Mayor John Mondy, Councilman Joel Scott, Councilwoman Reta Allen, Councilman Eric Hogue,
Councilman Merrill Young,Councilman J.C. Worley and Councilman Chris Trout.
Staff Present: Anthony Johnson, City Manager; Mindy Manson, Assistant City Manager; Claude Thompson,
Planner; Chris Holsted, City Engineer; Mike Sferra, Director of Development Services and Barbara Salinas, City
Secretary. Also present was consultant,Ray Stanland.
A Discussion related to the zoning ordinance and zoning map.
Mr. Anthony Johnson, City Manager provided Council with a brief history of the process, purpose and intent of
the proposed Zoning Ordinance and zoning map. Mr. Claude Thompson then explained in detail the process and
intent with the assistance of Mr. Ray Stanland, consultant. Mr. Thompson stated that adoption of the zoning
ordinance and map is not to rezone, but to transition from the existing zoning to the new Comprehensive Plan and
new terminology. Mr. Thompson explained the notification process, stating that all property owners within the
City of Wylie were notified and four comments forms were returned. Of those returned, three were favorable and
one in opposition. Mr. Thompson stated that the Planning and Zoning Commission met in regular session on
November 6, 2001 and did recommend adoption as presented.
Mr.Thompson stated that staff is also recommending adoption,with an exception to be called out for future study.
Mr. Thompson provided a description of the property location,generally located in the F.M. 544/S.H. 78 area.
