01-03-1923 (City Council) Minutes Regular meeting of City Council held Jan 3/ 1923. Minutes of meeting
held Dec. 6th read and approved.
It was regularly moved and seconded that the duties of the Marshal's office be
conferred upon E. Housewright, Deputy Sherriff of Collin County. Motion carried.
Bill in favor of Albert Davis for work& expenses, 31.25, Gunter Bass, Haul dog out of
town, .50, Dallas News, 12.18, L. L. Gant, 4.45, Wylie Lbr. Co., $100.80, Wylie Herald,
57.50, J. T.Elliott Lbr. Co., 60.10 was read. Moved & seconded that bills be allowed.
Motion carried.
Regularly moved & seconded that the Mayor appoint committee be appointed to secure
location for well. Motion carried. The Mayor appointed C. J. Marrs, C. L. Hillis, & Jeff
Knight.
Regularly moved & seconded that the action of the Mayor & Council be approved in
regard to making contact for the deep well & pipe & fittings etc. Motion carried.
The Street Committee was appointed to make a deal for a scavenger for the year.
Was regularly moved & seconded that the First State Bank of Wylie be named as City
depository provided the terms and bond was satisfactory. Motion carried.
The contracts were awarded as follows: McKee Well Co. for the well at 189.00, for 2500
ft. to go 2800 ft. if necessary for 225.00. The fire hose contract awarded to United States
Rubber Co. for 1000 ft. hose for $1,100.00. Pipe contract awarded to AmCast Iron Pipe
Co., as per contract on file. Tank and tower contract to Chicago Bridge & Iron Works for
$5,250.00.
