01-07-1925 (City Council) Minutes January 7th, 1925 Council met in regular session with the following present: Mayor G. W. Housewright, Atty. W. F. Duncan, Aldermen C. J. Marrs, D. Story, L. F. Daniel, J. H. Finch. Motion by Marrs and second by Daniel that the city build crossings at alley between property of D. E. Willis and Mrs. Watson. Also build crossing from Mrs. Watson property to property line of Dr. J. O. Staples after the property owners have built their part of walk. This walk to be three feet wide and the crossings whatever necessary. The Street Committee was ordered to instruct R. Gallagher to clean up in the rear of his place of business. Also to put in pipe drainage from his place of business to ditch in alley and the city will connect with him and drain this alley. The Street committee was ordered to instruct Mr. C. B. Poe to clean up the lot he is using as stock barn at rear of Housewright Hammett Co. Store and to keep it in a sanitary condition, there having been complaint made of it. Secy. was ordered to pay voucher of D E. Willis account Fire Marshall in amount of $24.00, also write State Fire Marshall at once advising him that the office of Fire Marshall has not been discontinued at reported. Permission was granted for putting in concrete slab front to be about 12 feet wide in front of filling station of the Jeff Knight Mule Barn and garage property provided he would put in permanent drainage from North to South line of this property and permission was granted him to fill cars on East side of walk or pumps while about repairs were being make, providing he would keep walk clear. Fire Marshall was instructed to collect occupation tax from skating rink and picture show. There being no further business council adjourned. Approved 2/4/25 Mayor L. F. Hughes, Secy.
