The City Council met in regular session on above date.
The following members present: Earl Hogge, Loyd Neilon, J. A. Hammett, E.
Housewright.
It was moved and secd by order of the
City Council that we adopt the hereto attached ordinance in regard to the collection of the
city taxes and every effort be made to clear up all delinquent taxes. Motion carried.
After some discussions and explanations by the representatives of the Community Gas
Co. of Dallas, Texas. An motion by E. Housewright and secd by J. W. Hammett, a
franchise was granted which is attached hereto and forms a part of the minutes of the
council of the City of Wylie.
No other business motion to adjourn.

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF
TAXES DUE THE CITY OF WYLIE AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER
SEVEN SECTION ONE PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWNOF
WYLIE ON THE 6TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1904, and PROVIDING FOR INTEREST,
COST, AND PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE:
ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF TAXES:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance Number Seven Section 1, passed by the City Council of the
town of Wylie, on the 6th day of January, 1904; be and is hereby amended so as to read as
follows:
SECTION 2: That it shall be the duty of the assessor and collector of taxes for the
corporation of Wylie to complete the assessment of property and persons for taxes
between the first day of May and the first day of August in each year, and immediately
after the first day of October in each year, he shall proceed to collect such taxes so
addressed and complete the same by the first day of February succeeding. All taxes due
the corporation of Wylie on the first day of February of each year shall bear interest at the
rate of 6% per annum after the taxes are due, and all costs, and the penalty of 10%. The
assessor and collector of taxes due the corporation of Wylie shall proceed to collect the
same according to the Revised Civil Statutes 1925 of the State of Texas, unless otherwise
provided by ordinance, of this corporation.
SECTION 3: The fact that there is now no adequate ordinance passed by the City of
Wylie for the assessment and collection of taxes due the corporation of Wylie, and the
further fact that there are a large amount of delinquent taxes due said corporation creates
a public necessity, and an emergency requiring the suspension of the rules, and this
ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the mayor.
