CALL TO ORDER
Announce the presence of a Quorum.
Shelia Patton called to order at 6:40 pm. Board members present included: Lt. Mike Atkison,
Carter Porter, Beverly Woodall, Dr. Chuck Kerin, Heather Screws and Shelia Patton.
INVOCATION & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Shelia Patton.
BUSINESS ITEMS
A. Consider and act upon approval of the Animal Advisory Board minutes of February
11, 2009.
Board Action
A motion was made by Carter Porter to accept February 11, 2009 Animal Shelter Advisory
Board minutes of February 11, 2009 as presented. Dr. Chuck Kerin seconded to accept
minutes. A vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
B. Appoint Chairman.
Board Action
A motion was made by Carter Porter to appoint Shelia Patton as chairman. Dr. Chuck Kerin
seconded to appointment of Shelia Patton as chairman. A vote was taken and the motion to
appoint Shelia Patton as chairman was unanimous.

C. Discuss long range plans for future growth or facility improvement.
Shelia Patton reported that the shelter dog housing building is in need of an air conditioning
system. Carter Porter suggests that bids by certified air conditioning company be submitted for
midyear budget. Dr. Chuck Kerin states that the optimal cool down should be no less than
eighty degrees in summer season.
Shelia Patton reported that the staff and visitors to the animal shelter facility would benefit with
an off leash area for potential adopters. Patton will check restrictions and space availability for
a fence play area on the property.
Shelia Patton reported that the indoor/outdoor housing area for dogs should be cinder blocked
to the top of the kennels from the existing standing wall to prevent contact between housed
animals. Patton will secure bid for project.
D. Discuss economy impact related to impoundment of animals.
Shelia Patton reported that animal surrender has declined from previous year.

With no further business before the board, consensus of the board was to adjourn at 7:48 pm.
