08-15-1943 (City Council) Minutes August 15, 1943 The City Council of the City of Wylie met in the City Hall at Wylie Texas on August 15, 1943. Those present were Mayor J. A. Pitts, Councilmen R. R. Addington, C. R. Hillis, E. Housewright, C. G. Housewright and D. B. Willis. The Minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary. On motion by E. Housewright and second by C. Housewright the minutes stand approved as read. E. Housewright made motion that minutes of April 15ti' 1943 be corrected by appointing Fire Marshall C. R. Burch, City Treasurer Glen Daniel, City Water Supt. H. A. Long . C. R. Hillis seconded motion—motion carried. Mayor J. A. Pitts appointed F. E. Neilon J. H. Riffe and Chas. Smith to act as Equilazation Board for City Tax assessment. Resignation of Glen Daniel as City Treasurer addressed to Mayor J. A. Pitts was read by the Secretary. C. R. Hillis made a motion that resignation by accepted. R. R. Addington Seconded motion—motion carried. Motion made by C. G. Housewright that City Tax assessor—collector be asked to re-imburse City Treasury in the amount of$54.62 Fifty-Four dollars & sixty-two cents amount of debit found by the auditor—a balance of over-paid and under-paid City Taxes. Motion seconded by C. R. Hillis— motion carried. Mayor Pitts was accepted to act as City Treasurer until an appointee was found to fill the position. An Ordinance fixing rentals to be paid by electric and gas companies for the privilege of using their poles, wires, conduits, pipes and fixtures in the streets, easements, alleys and other public ways within the City of Wylie Texas and providing for the making of reports and fixing penalties for violation and an ordinance fixing rentals to be paid by telegraph and telephone companies for the privileges of using their poles, wires conduits, pipes and fixtures in the streets, easements, alleys and other public ways within the City of Wylie Texas providing for the making of reports, and fixing penalties for violation, was read. Motion made by Claude Housewright that ordinances be passed motion seconded by D. B. Willis—motion carried. The following bills were read: R. C.
