CALL TO ORDER
Announce the presence of a Quorum.
Shelia Patton called to order at 6:34 pm. Board members present: Shelia Patton, Dr. Chuck
Kerin, Diane Culver & Board Liaison Lt. Mike Atkison. Board members absent: Amy Nutz &
David Lewis
INVOCATION & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation was led by Shelia Patton.
CITIZENS COMMENTS ON NON —AGENDA ITEMS
Three City of Wylie residents voiced their opinion to the advisory board on the nuisance feral cat
overpopulation. These citizens came to support Animal Control regarding the humane
euthanasia of feral aggressive cats in the city.
One City of Wylie resident voiced their opinion on the same day humane euthanasia on
nuisance feral cats. This citizen is against the same day humane euthanasia of feral aggressive
cats in the city.
Citizen also voiced her opinion on bad records, injured animals, animal neglect, and lack of
professionalism from staff.
One City of Wylie resident voiced her opinion on the use of a website and social media to help
animals get adopted. She felt it would prevent the social media gossip on issues with the
shelter.

BUSINESS ITEMS
A. Consider and act upon approval of the Animal Advisory Board minutes of April 2,
2013.
Board Action
A motion was made by Diane Culver to accept Animal Shelter Advisory Board minutes of April
2, 2013 as presented. Dr. Chuck Kerin seconded to accept minutes. A vote was taken and the
motion passed unanimously.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
B. Discuss progression of long term plans for future growth and facility improvement.
Building renovations have been approved for interior improvements for main building. Bids are
still being sought.
C. Volunteer program restrictions and requirements.
Culver expressed her concern with wording of the volunteer application to include volunteers will
be supervised by an ACO. Culver and Kerin were both concerned with the liability of having
volunteers transporting and handling off site events unsupervised.
Kerin asked Patton what is the difference in the animal shelter and animal control. Patton
stated as Animal Control the primary goal is to protect the citizens of Wylie in regards to issues
such as rabies control, bites and dangerous animals at large.
D. Improvements made to facility.
Patton reports that no structural improvements have been made at this time.

With no further business before the board, consensus of the board was to adjourn at 7:06 pm.
