05-06-1908 (City Council) Minutes Wylie, Texas May 6th- 1908
The town council of the town of Wylie met in regular session on May 7th
at Gallaghers Drug Store. Mayor J. G. Baskette presiding.
The following officers responded to roll call:
J. B. Baskette, A. Brown, C. J. Gallagher, J. A. Wilson, L. L. Gant, and J.
A. Hammette.
Minutes of previous meetings both regular and special read and approved.
Unfinished business, relation to 30 day notices to repair walk, disposed of
as follows:
Mrs. Kilgarm and C. D. Hays passed up.
Tab Lee and Santa Fe estended 30 day time.
R. L. Storn ordered served with 10 notice.
On motion seconded the Sect. was ordered to serve Jett J. Moore and W. H.
Heironymus (?) with notice to fill in under and around Old Trinity Gin and Corn
Shelter respectively, and put in sanitary condition such places as are now a
nuisance.
Motion and seconded that Sect be ordered to look up old papers to see if the town
award J. M. Brown for hauling licenses not refunded and if found so to issue
voucher covering same.
The following 30 day notices were ordered served for repairs of walks on each
side of Jackson St. between Brown St. and Marble St.:
T. C. Burch, M. M. Brooks, T. O. Staples, A. J. Thompson, I. T. Brooks,
Mrs. M.J. Browning, A. H. Burns and Mrs. Callie Burns.
The Street Committee on vote of council was instructed to survey North College
Street and if they saw proper to notify the sect. to issue notices to parties on said
street to appear before the next regular meeting to show course why they should
not be required to build walk along their property leading toward the school
building.
On motion seconded St. L. S. W. Ry. Co. was ordered served with notice to build
and maintain crossing on Jefferson Street.
In view of the fact that in December the council had voted for raising the
marshalls salary to $35.00 and same being in conflict with sect. 10 of ordinance 9
and that the new council thought proper to allow the Marshal extra compensation
a motion carried to allow A. Brown, Marshall $10.00 each month as officer
beginning in April.
