09-01-1909 (City Council) Minutes Wylie Texas Sept 1st 1909 The Town Counsell of the Town of Wylie met in regular seccion there being a quoram present they went into regular business. The clerk being absent W. F. Duncan was elected secretary protein for the meeting. The council was called to order by chairman J. B. Baskett and the minutes of previous meeting read and approved. W. F. Duncan presented a petition asking the city council to appoint him city attorney for the town of Wylie until the next regular election. Petition voted on by council and carried. A motion was then made that the city attorney be appointed to investigate the matter of delinquent tax payers who own property in the town of Wylie. The following acct were allowed. J. B. Baskett, printed matter 15.80 A. Brown, salary 25.00 J. B. Baskett, salary 12.50 Loyd Neilon, salary 10.00 J. A. Wilson, salary 5.00 J. A. Harwell, salary 5.00 L. L. Gant, salary 5.00 C. J. Gallagher, salary 5.00 C. J. Gallagher, Trea. Salary 5.00 G. C. Walters, salary 5.00 Motion was made that the city attorney look into laws and inform the council if they could not appoint a Board of Equalization to equalize the taxes for the present year. The city marshall reported the following list of the person having bad walk in the city. W. H. McCullough, G. W. Owens & Co., Mrs. W. T. Brown, Mrs. R. H. Williams, J. B. Palmer, Mrs. J.G. B. Philip, Jim McCullah, C. D. Colson, G. W. Smith, G. Col, J. Sautefer, R. R., Cottonbelt R. R., Myron Wilks, Dee Story, Geo Rodges, D. D. McKinney. Motion make that the above parties be given legal notice to fix said walks. Motion was made that Ten buckets be purchased to equip the fire engine. J. A. Harwell was instructed to carry buckets to L. L. Gant's Shop to be painted. Motion was made that an ax be bought to go with fire engine. Motion carried. Motion was made and carried that the city attorney communicate with attorney Gerrad and elicit an opinion as to the legality of the city council passing an ordinance preventing person teasing person of unsound mind.
