10-02-1912 (City Council) Minutes Wylie Tex 10/2/12 The Town Council of the town of Wylie met in regular seccion at 1st State Bank. After the roll call of officers the minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. The report of Fire Marshal Palmer was read and marshal Howery was instructed to have parties clean up premises at once. The report of J. A. Hammett as Treasure was read and refered to finance committee. S. M. McDonald, J. A. Hammett&L. A. Powell were appointed by Mayor Gallagher to solicit funds to build concrete walk in course of instruction the following-- AN ACT TO AMEND SEC. 4 ORDINANCE 13 OF THE OF THE CIVIL AND CRIMINAL ORDINANCES ADOPTED BY THE TOWN OF WYLIE, Texas, Jan. 6, A. D. 1904 and providing a penalty for the violation of the same. BE IT ORDAINED BT THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WYLIE :Sec. 4 Ordinance 13 of the Revised Civil and Criminal Ordinances adopted by the Town Council of the town of Wylie, Jan. 6th, A. D. 1904 and to repeal all laws and parts of laws in conflict therewith, be amended so as to hereinafter read as follows: SEC.4. PEDDLERS AND PATENT MEDICINE-That from every traveling person selling patent or other medicines, an annual tax of$25.00 shall be collected; and no traveling person shall so sell until the said tax is paid;provided that this tax shall not apply to commercial travelers, drummers or salesmen making sales, or soliciting trade for merchants engaged in the sale of drugs or medicine by wholesale. Any person who violates this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be fined in any sum not less that one dollar nor more that one hundred dollars.
