03-03-1926 (City Council) Minutes Mar 3, 1926 Council met in regular session with the following present= G. W. Housewright, Mayor, Loyd Neilon, L. F. Daniel, C. J. Marrs, J. H. Finch, Aldermen, W. F. Duncan, City Atty., L. F. Hughes, Secy. It was moved & seconded that an election be ordered for the purpose of electing a mayor and 3 aldermen, and city atty. on April 6th, 1926, the same being the first Tuesday in April. Motion carried. Uncle Ed Willis was appointed to hold the election. It was moved and sec that the office of City Police be suspended until further notice effective March 4th, 1926. Mo.carried. The matter of painting the water tank and tower has been under discussion. It was moved and sec in regular order that the tank and tower be painted. Ms. Carriel, Mr. Neilon, Mr Daniel and Mr. Finch were appointed as a committee to look after this work and get party to do the work. It was brought to the attention of the council that the grounding of electric stoves to the water pipes was liable to cause damage to the pipes and water mains. The street committee was instructed to make investigation and return report. The Secy was authorized to have notice inserted in local newspaper regarding payment of city taxes. The street committee was authorized to make two walk crossings— one at Santa Fe walk to Gallagher's Garage and one at Mrs. Calloway's property to J. A. Long's property.
