11-12-1926 (City Council) Minutes November 12, 1926 Upon motion by C. J. Marrs, seconded by Jick Housewright, in compliance with the privileges granted under our Fire Ordinance, No. 15, and in accordance with the best interests of the Public at large, it is moved that the above application for a permit be received and granted to the Southern Properties, Inc., subject to the terms set out in the application. Motion carried: This being a called meeting of the City Council, November 12, 1926. Signed, L. O. Neal Mayor Attest: L. Fay Hughes, Secretary. Attached application follows: To the Mayor and City Council, City of Wylie. Gentlemen: We are handing you herewith our application for a permit from your honorable body to grant us the privilege of removing a frame structure within the City fire limits, and to move within the City fire limits a frame structure now situated along the Santa Fe right of way, and known as this Company's Ice. Vault. The frame structure now located on Lots 11 and 12, Block 2, facing Ballard street, we desire to move on the back of same lot, and face building north, facing street running along the side of the present lot; at the same time leaving the west line of this building 65 feet from the east line of the Church building on the adjoining property across an alley. We are informed hat a distance of 65 feet does not jeopardize the fire risk on neighboring buildings. We further desire to move our Ice Vault from the Railroad right of way to the location now occupied by the above named building facing Ballard street. We are informed by Insurance Companies that Ice Vaults are one of their best risks, and maintain the least fire hazards of any building known. We do not believe that by the removal of this building we would jeopardize any insurance risks on the neighboring buildings in that section of the town. We will keep the above building in good repair, and maintain the premises so that they will compare favorably with the other buildings in that part of the town. The reason for this request to you is to enable us to render better service to the Public in the maintenance of our Ice business, and to benefit the Public thereby. Sincerely trusting that you will give this application your kindest consideration, and will grant a permit for the requests, spreading one copy of the permit upon your minutes, and giving us one copy for our files, and thanking you for same, we are Yours very truly, Southern Properties, Inc.
