05-15-1930 (City Council) Minutes May 15 1930 Council met in regular session on above date& was called to order by C. L.Hillis, Mayor ProTem with the following member present E. Housewright, A. Brown, R. L. Gallagher, I. V. Boren, Aldermen, G. H. Richard, Marshall, C. C. Marrs, Waterman, Albert Davis, clerk. We had with us Brown Consumer's Co.'s representative looking after their interest in the Sewer warrants &the Treasurer was instructed to pay the interest due amounting to 840.00. Other bills allowed & paid as follows: C. C. Marrs, 100.00, May 1 & 15, Dad Wilson, 1.50, A. Brown, 2.75, J. T.Long, 10.50, S. G. Allison, 17.20, T P &L, 214.00, Ed Andrews, 400, E. W. Phillips, 3.00, Hillis & Son, 1.32, Wylie Herald, 17.20. At this juncture, the Mayor arrived & presided through the meeting. The minutes of the past two meetings were read & approved. The report of J. A. Hammett as Mayor was read & accepted with the understanding that Mr. Hammett's taxes be paid by Housewright Hammett Co. as arranged for by Mr. Hammett. The report was that Mr. Hammett had collected 41.65 for occupation tax, 2 fines, and one tank water& had placed 12.00 in bank, left with C. L. Hillis - 4.65, &took salary, 25.00. Some question of taxes were discussed by the council. Was moved & sec that the town have traffic regulations. Motion carried. The Mayor was instructed by the council to select 2 citizens for Equalization Board, these citizens to select the 3rd member from the country for the School. The same citizens to select a 3rd member for the city. Moved & sec that clerk notify the Smith girls to look after their surface pool as it is a menace to the health of the city. Motion carried. Was moved & sec that the city prohibit the distribution of gasoline in or by milk cans or other open top vessels in the City of Wylie in the interest of safety. Motion carried. Was moved & sec that the salary of pumper and sewer man be fixed at 75.00 per month. Motion carried. A list of applicants names were read &the applicants were instructed to send in written applications &the council would then act upon them. On motion & second council adjourned.
