12-01-2016 (Historic Review) Minutes Wylie Historic Review Commission CITY OF WYLIE Minutes Wylie Historic Review Commission Thursday, December 1, 2016—6:00 pm Wylie Municipal Complex— Council Chambers 300 Country Club Road,Building 100 CALL TO ORDER Chair Jon Lewis called the meeting to order at 6:01 PM and stated that a quorum was present. Commissioners present: Vice Chair Gary Taylor, Sandra Stone, Bob Heath, Sr., James Park, Mandi Wilson, and John Pugh being absent. Staff present: Renae' 011ie, Planning Director, Chris Hoisted, Assistant City Manager and Administrative Assistant Mary Bradley. CITIZENS COMMENTS Chair Lewis opened the Citizens Participation. Mr. Bobby Heath, 205 Arborview, represented a number of Downtown Merchants, wanted to bring a complaint to the Commissioners attention regarding the number of signs at 304 N Jackson. Staff will follow-up with Building Inspections and Code Enforcement. Chair Lewis closed the Citizens Participation. CONSENT AGENDA 1. Consider and act upon approval of the Minutes from October 17, 2016, Special Called Meeting. A motion was made by Vice Chair Taylor and seconded by Commissioner Stone, to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried 6—0. Regular Agenda Action Item Motion to remove from table. A motion was made by Vice Chair Taylor, and seconded by Commissioner Wilson to remove the item from the table. Minutes December 1,2016 Wylie Historic Review Commission Page 1 of 2 c 1. Consider and act upon a recommendation to the City Council regarding renovations to the roof of a 2,563 square foot residential structure located at 301 N Ballard Avenue, for City of Wylie Brown House. 3 Staff Presentation Mr. Hoisted stated that the subject property suffered major damage to the roof during the April 11, 2016 hail storm. The item was tabled at the May 26, 2016 meeting, in order for the applicant to decide on which roofing material either slate, copper or metal. Staff has researched various types of shingles. A traditional shingle material is proposed with a slate historic appearance. Board Discussion Stonegate gray and Colonial slates were the two types of shingles that the Commissioners discussed. The shingles give more of variety of options for painting the house in a gray or neutral color, versus the green cedar. Board Action A motion was made by Commissioner Heath, and seconded by Commissioner Park, to recommend approval of the Grand Manor by CertainTeed in a neutral color. Motion carried 6 —0. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Commissioner Stone, seconded by Commissioner Wilson to adjourn the meeting.
