06-18-1923 (City Council) Minutes June 18 1923 The Council met in Called Session in office of Secy at 2 pm with the following present: Geo W Housewright Mayor, D Story, EH Daniel, Jeff Knight, Councilmen. The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of considering the Cotton Belt Ry's request to leave off one of the street lights that they had been called upon to Install. The location of this light being on Jefferson St crossing. The Ry Company assumed the position that this light was not needed because their light on the toilet was close enough to the crossing to furnish the crossing with sufficient light. It was brought out by the Council that in as much as the toilet light burned only a few minutes each night and it not being high enough from ground and being too far from crossing it would not be satisfactory, and the council desired that the original plans be carried out which were named in the ordinance. There being no further business the council adjourned. Approved: Mayor 8/5/23 LF Hughes Secy
