08-08-1923 (City Council) Minutes Aug 8th 23 The council met in Regular Session at 7:00 pm in the Mayor's office with the following present: GW Housewright Mayor, DH Daniel, Jeff Knight, Chas L Hillis Alderman and LF Hughes Secy. The minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. The Mayor stated that the machinery for testing the well is now in Alvarado Texas and ready to be shipped. Pipe for air line and water discharge line have been ordered from the Briggs- Weaver Mochy co at Dallas. It was called to the attention of the council that Mrs. Ben Daniel ad been charged taxes twice last year on a certain piece of property. She having produced the two receipts to substantiate her claim of overcharge. It was regularly moved and seconded that Mrs. Daniel be refunded $2.00, the amount of overcharge. Motion carried. The street committee was instructed to investigate the location of the street light at College St and Santa fe Ry. It having been reported that this light was some distance off of the street, and that they make a report at next meeting whether or not they considered the light satisfactorily located. Bill of$5.15 favor Wylie Herald for circulars was allowed and ordered paid. There being No further business the Council adjourned. Approved: Mayor LF Hughes Secy. Note = The air compressor for test on the deep well was started at 6:54 pm Aug 20th 1923. The compressor and its driving meter were mounted on west side of the derrick foundation and platform. The rotary had been moved from its place for this test. There were feet of air line and water discharge pipe in the well at the beginning of the test. The water broke on pounds air pressure and pumped at pounds. This pumping continued for three or four days and nights in an effort to clear the water of mud. It was decided that additional air and water line would be worth while and feet was added, making a total of feet of air and water line in the well.
