03-04-1925 (City Council) Minutes March 4th 1925 Council met in regular session in the City Atty's office at 7:30 pm with the following present: GW Housewright, Mayor—JH Finch, CJ Marrs, LF Daniel, D Story, Alderman—WF Duncan, City Any—LF Hughes, Secy. The committee appointed at the last meeting updated that 24 trees had been transplated ont eh Well lot at a total cost of$23.00. the action of the committee was approved and the committee discharged, and the bill ordered paid. The following resolution was unanimously adopted: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Wylie Texas that GW Housewright, Mayor of said City of Wylie, be and hereby is authorized to execute and deliver in the name of the City of Wylie an acknowledgement of Tenancy to the Gulf Colorado & Santa fe Ry Co, a corporation organized under the laws of the state of Texas, and having its principal office in the City and County of Galveston, State of Texas, for and in Consideration for the use of all that certain tract or parcel of land described in said acknowledgment of Tenancy, lying and being situated in the City of Wylie, county of Collin, State of Texas. The city clerk LF Hughes is authorized to attest said acknowledgment of Tenancy and to impress the corporate seal thereon. The following mosquito ordinance was passed on regular motion and second. (copy of ordinance posted in) This ordinance to be published in local news paper over a week for ten days. Dr TO Stapers was elected City Health Officer by regular motion and second. On regular motion and second an election was ordered to be held on the 7'h of April 1925, same being the first Tuesday in April, for the purpose of electing two Aldermen and City Secy. Motion carried. The City Secy was ordered to have the ballot prepared. DE Willis was appointed Presiding Judge of the election and given authority to appoint two Judges and two clerks. It having been shown that the position of City Pumper merits a higher salary, due to the amount of work incident to this position and to the good performance of all the duties of the place, a motion was made and duly seconded that the salary for this position be made $75.00 per month until changed or cancelled. The motion carried. The increased in salary to be effective from Feby 24th 1925. It was moved & seconded that the street committee order two more electric street lights installed—one in each alley in business district. The motion carried. On regular motion & sec the council voted to pay half the expense of grading Marble Street from Ballard to Cotton Belt Ry and spreading gravel on this street. The Cotton Belt Ry has agreed to furnish gravel free and the citizens on this street to pay the other half of the expense. The street committee was instructed to request CB Poe to move the obstruction from the ditch at his mule barn, which had been placed there by him for a crossing. A motion was made and seconded in regular order that March l lth be designated "clean up" day—that the city have all trash hauled out and dumped after the citizens place it in convenient places to get to. Motion carried, and instructions were given that notice of the desire to clean up be published in the local newspaper. The offer of alderman Marrs to furnish wagon & team for this work was accepted.
