CALL TO ORDER-WYLIE CITY COUNCIL
City Council members present were Mayor John Mondy; Mayor Pro Tem Eric Hogue;
Council member Rick White. School Board members present were: WISD Trustee/
School Subcommittee Chair Susan Schuler and WISD Trustee Ronni Fetzer. Also in
attendance were Dr. John Fuller, Superintendent of Schools and Mark B. Roath, City
Manager. WISD Trustee Henry Garland was absent.
REGULAR AGENDA
1. Welcome and Introduction
Susan Schuler welcomed the School and City participants. Thereafter, each participant
introduced himself/herself to the others.
2. Purpose of the Committee
Susan Schuler asked each member to share his/her perception of the Committee's
purpose. John Mondy expressed interest in the Committee sharing information and
project sharing. Rick White also expressed interest in the Committee sharing
information. Susan Schuler expressed an interest in the Committee developing strong
communication lines and having the Committee deal with such issues as purchasing,
health and safety.
3. City/School Vision for the Future
Susan Schuler distributed a Vision Statement for the Committee, which she discussed.
The Vision Statement listed four items: (1) to build trust, open lines of communication,
and lay the groundwork for collaboration; (2) a collaborative vision for the future well
being of Wylie families, and an effective use of tax payer's money; (3) establish clear goals
and benchmarks for school improvement and hold city leaders, school officials, and other
stakeholders responsible in fulfilling their respective roles; and (4) strong cities need
strong schools. Strong schools, in turn, need the active support of city and community
leaders.

4. Format for Future Meetings
The Committee members discussed holding monthly meetings, the first Monday of each
month at 6:30 a.m. They also discussed alternating the location of each meeting between
the City and School District.
Committee members asked both staff liaisons to put on the next Subcommittee Agenda the
following items: (1) current collaborative joint efforts between the City and School
District; (2) open space available for future joint projects; (3) school demographic
information.

With no further business to discuss the meeting was adj urned at 1:00 p.m.
