With notice of the meeting posted in time and manner required by law and a quorum of Board
members present, the Board of Directors of the Wylie Economic Development Corporation
(WEDC) met in Regular Session on July 27, 1998 in the Board Room of the Wylie Chamber of
Commerce at 108 W. Marble St., Wylie, Texas.
The meeting was called to order by President Yeager at 7:07 a.m.
ITEM NO. 1 - Discuss and Consider Issue Surrounding the FY 1998 - 1999 Proposed
Budget for the Wylie Economic Development Corporation.
Staff presented the WEDC Board of Directors with a budget proposal for the FY 1998 - 1999.
Board Member St. John was very concerned that the dollars being proposed for incentives was
relatively constant while revenues are increasing significantly. Board Member Fuller agreed and
suggested advertising expenditures be decreased with the difference dedicated to incentives.
Board Member St. John posed the question why is the WEDC spending significant dollars on
national advertising with every Wylie relocation coming from within the metroplex. The Board
unanimously instructed staff to maintain a significant advertising presence within the metroplex,
while only spending minimal dollars nationally.
MOTION: A motion was made by Kevin St. John and seconded by Marvin Fuller to
table the proposed budget for FY 1998 - 1999 until staff has input changes
as directed. The Board voted 4 - FOR and 0 - AGAINST in favor of the
motion.

There being no citizen participation, President Yeager proceeded to Item No. 3.
ITEM NO. 3 - Adjourn.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 a.m.
