May 16, 1952
The city council of this city met in regular session on the above date with the
following members being present. Mayor J.A. Benton, Aldermen: J.W. Nicholson,
J.F. Bowden, R.D. Groves, A.D. Boyd, C.W. Taylor, and Sect. W.W. Housewright.
Ise Birket met with the council and asked that he receive more money for his
garbage pickup each month. He requested a $15.00 a month raise. A motion was
made by J.E. Bowden and seconed by J. P. Nicholson that he be granted this raise
making his total salary for this job $115.00 monthly. Motion Carried.
Mr.Rlumberg an architic from Dallas met with the council in regard to a public
housing unit in our City. Mr. Klamberg explained the workings of a public housing
unit, the may that the money is secured, how it is managed, and all phases of
operation. The council did not take any definite action on this matter.
T.E. Goen met with the council in regard to the water and sewage Immultx
problem on his property. A lengthy discussion was made in regard to this
matter with the following action being taken. A motion was made by A.D. Boyd
and seconed b R.V. Groves that the City will carry the water and sewage lines
to the property lines of the individual. Motion carried.
Mayor Benton made the following appointments with the consent of the council.
A.D. Boyd--Mayor Protem
Dr. L.M. Morrisset--City Health Officer.
There was a discussion in regard to the de1iqueit water bills with no definite
action being taken.
A motion was made by J.V. Nicholson and seconed by A.D. Boyd that the city buy
an adding machine for the use of the Water Superintendent. Motion carried.
The secretary was appointed to purchase said machine.
A motion was made by A.D. Boyd and seconed by R.V. Bsa Groves that all bills be paid.
Motion Carried.
There was a discussion in regard to the water that was being turned into the ditch
by the Cotton Belt Platform. There was not action taken in regard to this matter.
With no further business the council adjourned to meet again at the next regular o$
call meeting by the Mayor.
