03-16-1954 (City Council) Minutes Ya- w CITY OF WYLIE WYLIE, TEXAS April 1 6, 1954 The city council of this city met in regular session on the above date with all members of the council being present. The minutes of the March meeting were read and approved. IMENCIIMMEGIIICINEUMMORECEUXECEMEXEC An ordinance requiring Texas Telephone Co.. to pay a 2%(two percent) street rental fee was discussed with the following action being taken. A motion was made by R.V. Groves and second by W.P. Poor that the city pass the ordinance. Motion carried. Copy of ordinance attached here-to. The results of the election that was held April 6, 1954 was read. A copy of which is attached. After the new and re-elected members were sworn in,tbx Mayor Edgington made the following appointments. Mayor pro-tem- Boyd Street Committee R.S. Posey, City Treasurer Rita Smith P.P. Poor, M.F. Allen Water Superintendent H.A. Long Water & Sewage R.V. Groves,A.D.BoS Tag C Assessor Qol.----J.A. Pitts t orney or i y Roland Boyd Sanitary man A.L. Maynvrd A motion was made by R.V. Groves and Seconed by W.P. Poor that the mayors appointments be approved. Motion Carried. There was a lengthy discussion in regard to the trash pick-up man and his duties. The following action was taken in regard to this matter. A motion was made by R.V. Groves and Seconed by W.P. Poor that the City hire E.J. Hicks at a salary of $115.00 per month and that he start immediately to clean town. Notion carried. W.T. Corzine, the newly elected City Marshall met with the council in regard to getting a night watchman. He stated that he would not be interested in working nights any longer, and when asked by Alderman Boyd if an increase in salary would cause him to stay on with his present duties. His answer was no and that he was quiting between then and the 15th of the following month. 7-are was no official action taken by the council in regard to this matter.
